Modernization of Sri Lanka Police

- Sri Lanka Police is a leading entity empowered to ensure the safety and security of the public and to maintain law and order. It also provides multiple services to people across the country. It has been found the necessity to modernize the Sri Lanka Police by changing the traditional systems followed at present. In this context, it has been identified that the traffic handling process should be made effective and efficient through modern methods. In particular, priority should be given to streamlining the work of the Police Traffic and Road Safety Division using digitization solutions to reduce existing traffic congestion in urban areas. Accordingly, the proposal made by the Minister of Public Security to appoint a steering committee to design a project to monitor the overall modernization process of the Sri Lanka Police and implement the same, giving priority to the aforesaid purpose, was approved by the Cabinet.
