Report of the Cabinet Sub-Committee on Legislation held on 2021-01-12

- The concept papers submitted for the purpose of drafting the following Bills, have been referred to the Cabinet Sub‑Committee on Legislation on approval by the Cabinet, to examine and submit its recommendations. Taking into consideration the recommendations of the said Sub‑Committee, the proposals referred to in the Cabinet Memoranda submitted by the Minister of Education in his capacity as the Chairman of the Cabinet Sub‑Committee on Legislation to draft the relevant Bills, were approved by the Cabinet.

* Enactment of a new legislation in place of the Assistance to and Protection of Victims of Crime and Witnesses Act

* Muslim Marriage and Divorce (Amendment) Bill

* Amendment to the Penal Code (Chapter 19) (Protection of Human Dignity and Social Harmony, Fake News and Hate Speech)

* Amendment to the Code of Criminal Procedure Act, No.15 0f 1979 (Protection of Human Dignity and Social Harmony, Fake News and Hate Speech)
