Construction of Rural Roads and Bridges

- The State Ministry of Rural Roads and other Infrastructure which is coming under the purview of the Ministry of Highways has planned to construct 5000 rural bridges such as pedestrian bridges and vehicular bridges all over the Island. It has been proposed to implement the said construction of bridges process under the project of the rehabilitation of 100,000km rural road network of the Government. Accordingly, the proposal made by the Minister of Highways to implement the said project, was approved by the Cabinet.
