Submission of the Gazette Notification No.2160/33 dated 2020.01.30 issued, publishing the Motor Traffic (Restrictions) Regulations to Parliament

- It has been reported that some container vehicles running under the Sedawatte railway bridge of the road section from Thotalanga junction to Kohilawatte junction of Colombo – Hanwella (AB 010) highway cause damages to the railway bridge due to the negligence of container drivers. Accordingly, the proposal made by the Minister of Transport to present the Gazette Notification No. 2160/33 dated 2020.01.30 issued in terms of the provisions of the Motor Traffic Act in Parliament in order to ban the travelling of all the vehicles which transport containers, other vehicles with more than 3.2m in total height above ground level and vehicles with a load height of more than 3.2m above ground level through the said road section, with a view to avoiding dangerous accidents caused by the same and to introduce alternative routes for those restricted vehicles, was approved by the Cabinet.
