Providing 500,000 doses of AstraZeneca's COVISHIELD Vaccine by the Government of India to Sri Lanka

- The Hon. Prime Minister informed the Cabinet that the Indian High Commissioner has conveyed that the Government of India has decided to provide 500,000 doses of AstraZeneca's COVISHIELD vaccine to Sri Lanka taking into account the longstanding relationship between Sri Lanka and India and the cooperation experienced between the two countries during the last year in facing the COVID‑19 pandemic situation and that the stock of vaccine is scheduled to arrive in the country on the 28th of this month. The Cabinet of Ministers decided to convey the appreciation and gratitude of the Government of Sri Lanka to the Government of India for timely cooperation extended in the hour of need.
