Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on the Return and Readmission of Persons between the Commonwealth of Australia and the Government of the Democratic Socialist Republic of Sri Lanka

- A proposal has been made to enter into a Memorandum of Understanding between Australia and Sri Lanka incorporating the provisions for the exchange of persons staying in violation of the immigration laws between two countries. The said Memorandum of Understanding ensures a safe and orderly return to their country of residence. Accordingly, the proposal made by the Minister of Irrigation and State Minister of National Security, Home affairs and Disaster Management to enter into a Memorandum of Understanding between the Commonwealth of Australia and the Democratic Socialist Republic of Sri Lanka on the Return and Readmission of Persons, was approved by the Cabinet.
