Recommendations of the Cabinet Sub Committee on Legislation

- The proposals submitted to the Cabinet regarding the amendment of the following Acts, have been referred to the Cabinet Sub‑Committee on Legislation for its recommendations. As such, taking into consideration the recommendations made by the said Sub‑Committee, Cabinet decided to instruct the Legal Draftsman to formulate the amending legislation for the purpose.

* Immigrants and Emigrants Act (repealing the existing Immigrants and Emigrants Act, No.20 of 1948 and the relevant amendments and replacement of a new Act)

* Stamp Duty (Special Provisions) Act, No.12 of 2006 and Provincial Councils (Transfer of Stamp Duty) Act, No.13 of 2011

* National Minimum Wage of Workers Act, No.3 of 2016

* Community Based Corrections Act, No.46 of 1999

* Section 53 of the Penal Code (provisions relating to death sentence on minors)
