Granting relief to electricity consumers affected from COVID-19 Outbreak
- Taking into consideration the proposals submitted by the Minister of Power pertaining to provision of reliefs to electricity consumers affected by COVID-19 pandemic situation and those submitted by the Minister of Tourism regarding provision of reliefs to the tourism related institutions on payment of electricity and water bills, approval of the Cabinet was granted to pursue action as follows:

* to provide a grace period of 06 months from the date of electricity bill to the domestic, commercial and industrial electricity consumers in the areas which were under the continuous lockdown for more than 14 days, to pay the electricity bills for the relevant period and not to disconnect the electricity supply until such time.

* to allow the Cinema Halls registered at the National Film Corporation to settle the electricity bills from March to December, 2020 in 12 equal installments from the date of electricity bill and not to disconnect the electricity supply until such time.

* to allow the registered accommodation providers of the Sri Lanka Tourism Development Authority (SLTDA) to settle the cumulative electricity and water bills from 01st March 2020 to 28th February 2021 in 12 equal installments and not to disconnect the relevant supplies until such time.
