Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on the implementation of the Project regarding ‘Connecting the Sri Lankan Villages to the International Market’

- The objective of the project on “Connecting the Sri Lankan Villages to the International Market” is to develop a network between the local industrialists and the international market aiming at People Centric Economic Development in the country. The State Ministry of Samurdhi, Household Economy, Micro Finance, Self‑Employment and Business Development has implemented the “Economic Empowerment and Rural Development Programme – 2020” under the Department of Samurdhi Development and, the “Model Village on Samurdhi Products” is one of its major sub programmes. Through this sub programme also, it is expected to recognize the local industrialists intending to move quality products of the rural community to the international market. As such, the Cabinet decided to grant its concurrence to the proposal made by the Foreign Minister, to enter into a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) by the State Ministry of Samurdhi, Household Economy, Micro Finance, Self‑Employment and Business Development with the State Ministry of Regional Cooperation, for the implementation of the “Connecting the Sri Lankan Villages to the International Market” project through an institutional network which has the potential of building a mechanism for covering all districts in the country.
