Amendments to the Tea Control Act, No.51 of 1957 - Approval of the Cabinet has been granted at its meeting held on 2016‑05‑10 to amend the Tea Control Act, No.51 of 1957. Accordingly, the Legal Draftsman has prepared a draft bill and the proposal made by the Minister of Plantation to further amend the said bill incorporating the following provisions, was approved by the Cabinet.
* To incorporate an interpretation as “Reclaimable Tea” for tea that is separated after grading in the manufacturing process of Tea Factories. * To designate the remnant after further reclaiming made tea from reclaimable tea as “Refuse Tea”. * To incorporate legal provisions affected to tea processors including registration of them, issuance of licenses to them and administration. |
