Standard Operating Procedures for automobile manufacturing, assembling and manufacturing of spare parts in Sri Lanka

- A high potential exists to develop automobile industry in Sri Lanka which is rapidly developing in the world and there is an urgency for a clear guidance on existing rules/ regulations and procedures related to the same. Accordingly, the proposed “Standard Operating Procedure which includes domestic value addition formula and matrix” has been developed with the consent of the relevant government agencies and the industrialists and with the assistance of the professionals of the sector as well, having done a lengthy study on the relevant procedures of the automobile industry. As such, the proposal made by the Minister of Industries to implement the provisions containing the said Operating Procedure, was approved by the Cabinet.
