Establishment of a Facilitation Centre for Hambantota Port related Industrial Zones and Industrial Development in the Southern Province

- In terms of the provisions of the Industrial Promotion Act No. 46 of 1991, it is possible to establish the Industrial Zones/ Science Parks and provide necessary facilities for the same. Action has been taken to establish several Industrial Zones inline with the infrastructure development carried out in Southern Province recently. Accordingly, the proposal made by the Minister of Industries to establish a Smart One Stop Shop in the vicinity of the Hambanthota Port comprising of representatives of all relevant institutions enabling to provide the local and foreign investors who are interested to invest in such Industrial Zones with the necessary approvals and facilities at a single location and to carry out the activities of the said office with the direction of the Regional Industrial Service Centre in the Southern Province under the direct supervision of the Ministry of Industries, was approved by the Cabinet.
