Amending the Sri Lanka Rupavahini Corporation Act, No.6 of 1982

- The Sri Lanka Rupavahini Corporation established under the Sri Lanka Rupavahini Corporation Act, No.6 of 1982 has preformed a significant duty in the field of media in Sri Lanka for the period of past 38 years. However, it has identified the necessity to change the composition of the Board of Directors of the Sri Lanka Rupavahini Corporation which has been vested with the power to make decisions and implement them in order to deal appropriately with the current intense media competition. Accordingly, the proposal made by the Minister of Mass Media to amend the said Act enabling to increase the composition of the Board of Directors which currently consists of 07 members up to 09 members including a representative from the Treasury and Secretary of the Line Ministry in charge of the subject or any other representative of that Ministry nominated by him, was approved by the Cabinet.
