Press briefing of Cabinet Decision taken on 2020-12-21

Enticing the Airlines to the Mattala Rajapaksa International Airport and the Colombo International Airport, Ratmalana

- It has been planned to open the Airports for the tourists and accordingly, as a pilot project, necessary actions have been taken to open the Airports for tourists during the period from 2020‑12‑26 to 2021‑01‑19, by following the recommendations of the Health Authorities. As such, the International Airlines will operate according to specific schedules prepared by the Ministry of Tourism and the Civil Aviation Authority of Sri Lanka. Therefore, the Cabinet approved the proposal made by the Minister of Tourism for waiving off the landing and parking fees for the period from 2020‑12‑26 to 2021‑01‑19 from the Airlines to be operated flights to Sri Lanka in order to encourage such Airlines amidsts the crisis presently being faced by the International Aviation sector.
