Amendment to the Fisheries and Aquatic Resources Act No.02 of 1996

- Approval of the Cabinet has been granted at its meeting held on 2016‑04‑26 to amend the Fisheries and Aquatic Resources Act No. 2 of 1996 so as to increase the penalties against obstructions caused to the authorized officers in the implementation of the provisions of the said Act and at the meeting held on 2019‑07‑07, approval has also been granted to amend the said Act incorporating the provisions to regulate the illegal activities. As such, the proposal made by the Minister of Fisheries, to instruct the Legal Draftsman to drat a bill incorporating the proposed amendments, was approved by the Cabinet.
