Amendment of the project period and number of houses constructed under the 'Virusumithuru Housing Project'

- In terms of the Cabinet decision dated 2017‑04‑04, the 'Virusumithuru Housing Project' is implemented by the National Housing Development Authority together with the Ranaviru Sewa Authority for the families of the war heroes who have sacrificed their lives and injured at the battle field operations. The project duration is 04 years and it was scheduled to be completed by 2020. However, another 346 beneficiaries for the construction of new houses and 2,454 beneficiaries for completion of constructions of the partially constructed houses have been selected under the project. Therefore, the Cabinet approved the joint proposal made by H.E the President and the Hon. Prime Minister in his capacity as the Minister of Urban Development & Housing to amend the scope of the said project enabling to complete 4000 partially built houses since there is a rising demand for the completion of such houses and to build 450 new houses as well as to extend the project duration until the end of 2022.
