Awarding of Construction Contract of 27.7km long Tunnel Section in 95.86km long North Central Main Canal Project

- It has been planned to construct a 27.7 km tunnel from Koduruwawa to Namalpura via the protected forests and sanctuaries in Minneriya, Girithale and Hurulu as a package of the Mahaweli Water Security Investment Programme which is implemented under the funds of the Asian Development Bank. For the purpose, international competitive bids have been invited to select a suitable contractor. Accordingly, the proposal made by the Minister of Irrigation to award the relevant contract to the China State Construction Engineering Corporation Ltd., as recommended by the Standing Cabinet Appointed Procurement Committee, was approved by the Cabinet.
