Acquiring the 48 Waththa land where the Sinhapura Housing Complex has been built to the Urban Settlement Development Authority

- Under two phases of the Sinhapura Housing Scheme Project, housing facilities have been provided to 120 low - income families living amidst minimum facilities within the Colombo Municipal Council area within a block of land in extent of 0.4423 hectares belonging to Wanathamulla of Divisional Secretariat Division, Thimbirigasyaya. The said housing programme has been implemented by an establishment called Real Estate Exchange (Pvt.) Limited which was fallen under the then Ministry which was vested with the subject of Housing, and has spent Rs. 174.15 million of budgetary allocations from the General Treasury for the purpose. Therefore, the proposal made by the Minister of Urban Development & Housing for transferring the relevant plot of land to the Urban Development Authority as a free grant, enabling to issue deeds for those low – income families who have been granted houses, was approved by the Cabinet.
