Purchasing a Maintenance andEmergency Response Vessel (MERV) for The Ceylon Petroleum Corporation

- The fact that hiring a Maintenance and Emergency Response Vessel for the Ceylon Petroleum Corporation was discussed at the Cabinet meeting held on 2020‑07‑22 and it was decided at that Cabinet meeting to explore the possibility of providing relevant services by purchasing a Maintenance andEmergency Response Vessel by the Sri Lanka Navy.Accordingly, the proposal made by the Minister of Energy to purchase a new Maintenance and Emergency Response Vessel by the Sri Lanka Navy thereby connecting ships to two Single Point Buoy Moorings of the Ceylon Petroleum Corporation, to provide tanker discharging operations and other necessary services and to purchase the said vessel from the Colombo Dockyard Company as agreed during the deliberations with the participation of the Ministry of Energy, Ministry of Defence and officials concerned, was approved by the Cabinet.
