The proposed Voluntary Retirement Scheme of Sri Lankan Airlines Ltd.

- It has been decided to implement a Voluntary Retirement Scheme due to the financial crisis of the Sri Lankan Airlines Ltd. and a Three – Member Committee headed by the Secretary to the State Ministry of Aviation and Export Zones Development has been appointed to examine this matter. The said Committee has recommended to implement the proposed Voluntary Retirement Scheme without any hindrance to the operations of the Company for the next three years. It is expected that approximately 560 employees will be retired under this scheme andit has been estimated that Rs1.46 billion would be the cost on it. Accordingly, the proposal made by the Minister of Tourism to implement the aforesaid Retirement Scheme, was approved by the Cabinet of Ministers.
