Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between the Tea Research Institute of Sri Lanka and Council of Scientific and Industrial Research Institute of Himalayan Bio-Resource Technology, India

- The Tea Research Institute of Sri Lanka has been awarded a grant to conduct a two year research project under the Indo – Sri Lanka Joint Research Programme on “High throughput genotyping to expedite the genetic characterization and dissection of important agronomic traits of tea”. The main objective of this research is to develop the molecular biology techniques required to accelerate the tea breeding programmes by reducing the time taken for cultivar development. Accordingly,the proposal made by the Minister of Plantation to enter into a Memorandum of Understanding between the Tea Research institute of Sri Lanka and the Council of Scientific and Industrial Research Institute of Himalayan Bio Resource Technology, India, was approved by the Cabinet.
