Appointment of a Delimitation Committee to establish new Divisional Secretariat Divisions, to gazette the already established Divisional Secretariat Divisions and to establish and reconstitute of Grama Niladhari Divisions

- Based on the administration and development requirements of the Government as well as the requirements of the public, many requests have been made by people's representatives as well as people's organizations for the establishment of new divisional secretariat divisions in certain areas of the country, reconstitution of some divisional secretariat divisions, delimitation and then gazette the already established divisions yet to be gazetted, establishment of new Grama Niladhari divisions and reconstitute of the existing Grama Niladhari divisions. Although, a Delimitation Committee has to be appointed for the purpose, every 05 years, the report of the last committee appointed in the year 2012, has not been published in the Government Gazette and accepted officially due to the technical deficiencies in the Report. Therefore, the proposal made by the Minister of Irrigation and State Minister of Internal Security, Home Affairs and Disaster Management, to appoint a new Delimitation Committee for the purpose of carrying out the relevant functions, was approved by the Cabinet.
