-The Cabinet, at its meeting held on 2019‑09‑10 granted approval to amend the Bail Act, No 30 of 1997, as the fines laid down in the said Act is not in keeping with the needs of the contemporary context. The Attorney General has granted his concurrence to the amended draft Bill prepared by the Legal Draftsman. Accordingly, the proposal made by the Minister of Justice to publish the said Bill in the Government Gazette and submit the same thereafter in Parliament for approval, was approved by the Cabinet.
