-The Urban Development Authority has planned to implement a number of urban development projects centered on major cities including the city of Colombo. Preliminary activities pertaining to these projects have already been initiated while the Urban Development Authority has to acquire both State owned as well as private owned plots of land already identified for this project. Accordingly, the proposal made by the Hon. Prime Minister in his capacity as the Minister of Urban Development and Housing, to vest with the Urban Development Authority 39 plots of State owned land in terms of section 6(1) of the State Land Ordinance as a free grant and another 05 plots of private lands under the Land Acquisition Act, was approved by the Cabinet.
