-Rehabilitation and expansion of the Water Supply Systems in the North East and South West parts of the city of Colombo and non revenue water reduction, the rehabilitation and the expansion of the wastewater management system in the southern Catchment area of the city of Colombo are being carried out under the Greater Colombo Water and Wastewater Management Improvement Investment Programme. The projects under this programme are planned to be carried out during the period from 2012 to 2022‑10‑24.

Under Tranche - 3 of the said Programme, 02 loan facilities are provided and the following projects will be implemented accordingly:

* Providing new gravity sewers, force mains and pump stations for the Kirulapone Catchment area

* Construction of the Wellawatte Wastewater Treatment Plant

* Rehabilitation and expansion of the Water Supply System in the North East and South East parts of the city of Colombo and non revenue water reduction.

* Procurement of vehicles and office equipment and conducting training workshops to assist the Project Management Unit of the Colombo Municipal Council.

The current loan facility under Tranche 3 of this programme is to be expired on 2020‑12‑31 and accordingly the proposal made by the Minister of Public Services, Provincial Councils and Local Government to extend the said loan facility up to 2022‑10‑24, was approved by the Cabinet.
