-The Project Evaluation Committee of the Ministry of Industries has recommended the allocation of land blocks as follows to ten investors relating to 10 project proposals, based on the recommendations submitted by the Regional Industrial Services Committee.

• Four project proposals for Buttala Industrial Estate;

• Two project proposals for Laksha Uyana Industrial Estate;

• One project proposal each for the Industrial Estates of Nalanda Ellawala, Puttlam, Karandeniya and Bata - Atha;

Under the proposed projects, the relevant investors are expected to invest approximately Rs. 1,144 million and through the same around 555 new direct employment opportunities will be created.

Accordingly, the proposal made by the Minister of Industries to allocate land blocks to the aforesaid ten investors for a period of 35 years, on lease basis, was approved by the Cabinet.
