-The Cabinet, at its meeting held on 2020‑06‑10 granted approval to provide school uniform materials through domestic textile manufacturers in place of giving vouchers for school uniforms. Accordingly, relevant procurement process has been initiated and only four domestic textile manufacturers have submitted bids. During the field visits, it has been observed that they have already manufactured approximately 40% of the total textile requirement and it has been confirmed that these manufactures have the capacity to meet the total school uniform material requirement by the end of January, 2021. Taking into account the matters submitted by the Minister of Education on providing school uniform materials, the Cabinet granted approval to take necessary action to purchase the total requirement of school uniform material from domestic manufactures and accordingly to provide the school children with uniform materials instead of vouchers.
