-H.E the President has established a Presidential Task Force for the Management of Archaeological Heritages in the Eastern Province and the said Task Force has planned to establish a fund for the immediate renovation and conservation of the Deegawapi Stupa which is considered as the main Stupa in the Province. Accordingly, the proposal made by H.E the President to establish a Trust Fund to raise funds to fulfill the requirements relating to the renovation and conservation activities of the Deegawapi Stupa and to carry out these renovation and conservation activities through a Sub‑Committee appointed representing both the State and the Private Sector under the Chairmanship of the Secretary, Ministry of Defence, Major General (Rtd) Kamal Gunaratne and Supportive Committees under the supervision of the Presidential Task Force, was approved by the Cabinet
