Construction of 300MW Second Combined Cycle Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG) Power Plant at Kerawalapitiya

- It has been identified that in order to remedy to the power crisis that could arise in the country in the future, it would be appropriate to construct 300 MW LNG Power Plant at Kerawalapitiya and the construction and implementation of the same as an independent Power Project through private investments on Built Own Operate Transfer (BOOT) business model.

Accordingly, the proposal made by the Minister of Power to take necessary action to identify a suitable investor following the international competitive bidding process enabling to complete the project within a period of three years, was approved by the Cabinet.
