Submission of the Gazette Extraordinary Notifications published under the Sri Lanka Export Development Act, No.40 of 1979 in Parliament

- The proposal made by the Minister of Trade to submit four Gazette Extraordinary Notifications issued for the following purposes under the Sri Lanka Export Development Act, No.40 of 1979 in Parliament, was approved by the Cabinet.

* Exemption of the payment of CESS on the importation or importation and supply or importation and donation of products such as medicines, chemicals, health care equipment and machinery required for the prevention of COVID‑19 on the request of the Ministry of Health, Tri -Forces and the COVID Centre.

* Levying the CESS on the importation of Portland Cement on the basis of unit rate in place of advalorem basis.

* Removal of CESS levy on importation of cement clinkers.

* Imposition of CESS levy on importation of certain parts required for footwear manufacturing, filament bulbs and flexible packaging materials.
