Relief assistance to the affected families of Amphan Cyclone

- Amphan Cyclone which lasted for 04 days from 16th May, 2020 to 19th May 2020 has severely damaged the banana and papaya plantation of 2,374 farmers in Kopay, Tellipallai and Karaweddi Divisional Secretariat Divisions of the Jaffna District and the District Secretary/Government Agent, Jaffna has reported that the total loss of the damage was Rs.52.98 million. Accordingly, the Cabinet decided to implement a mechanism in coordination with the Ministry of Agriculture, the Ministry in charge of the subject of Disaster Management and the District Secretariat, Jaffna and to grant an additional allocation of Rs.52.98 million to the District Secretary/Government Agent, Jaffna, required for the same through the Ministry in charge of the subject of Disaster Management as per the proposal of the Minister of Fisheries to provide relief to the said farmers, was approved by the Cabinet.
