Press briefing of Cabinet Decision taken on 2020-09-02

Obtaining allocations from the General Treasury for the recurrent expenditure of the Sri Lanka Rupavahini Corporation, Sri Lanka Broadcasting Corporation (SLBC) and the Independent Television Network

- Due to the decrease of income generation with the spread of COVID-19, the Sri Lanka Rupavahini Corporation, Sri Lanka Broadcasting Corporation and Independent Television Network have faced with difficulty to settle the salaries and other essential expenses of such institutions. Therefore, the proposal made by the Minister of Mass Media to obtain the provisions for essential recurrent expenditure of those institutions for a period of 04 months from September to December 2020 from the General Treasury, was approved by the Cabinet.

It was also decided by the Cabinet that strategic plans should be prepared to increase the revenue of these institutions and be implemented expeditiously with the concurrence of the General Treasury.
