Procurement of Chemical Fertilizer - 2020 Maha Season

- Open competitive bids have been invited for the importation of chemical fertilizer to be distributed during the month of October for Maha Season 2020 by the Ceylon Fertilizer Company Ltd (Lak Pohora) and the Colombo Commercial Fertilizer Ltd. (Commercial Fertilizer). Accordingly, the Cabinet granted its approval for the proposal submitted by the Minister of Agriculture to award the relevant procurements as follows considering the recommendation of the Standing Cabinet Appointed procurement Committee:

* To procure 20,000+ 5% metric tons of Murate of Potash (Red/Pinkish/White) for the Lak Pohora and Commercial Fertilizer companies from M/s Valency International Trading Pte Ltd., at US$ 236.44 per metric ton.

* To procure 2,000+ 5% metric tons of Murate of Potash (Red/Pinkish) for the Commercial Fertilizer company from M/s Valency International Trading Pte Ltd., at US$ 236.44 per metric ton.

Further, the proposal to procure 8,700+ 5% metric tons of Triple Super Phosphate for Lak Pohora and Commercial Fertilizer companies for the month of September of the Maha Season 2020 to M/s Gulf Fert International FZE at US$ 241.00 per metric ton, as recommended by the Procurement Appeal Board, was also approved by the Cabinet.
