Rural Bridges Project - Extending the Project Period

- 'The Rural Bridges Project' for the construction of 1,210 rural bridges has been implemented since 2013 under 03 Phases and under that, construction of 1318 bridges have been completed by July 2019. Approval of the Cabinet has been granted previously to extend the duration of the project until 2020‑08‑31, enabling to construct another 250 Rural Bridges under Phase II and another 230 Rural Bridges under Phase III of the project. However, the relevant contracts coming into full force and the implementation of the same have been delayed. Accordingly, the proposal made by the Minister of Public Administration, Home Affairs, Provincial Councils & Local Government to extend the period of the contract agreements already signed for projects under Phase II and Phase III up to 2021‑05‑10 and 2021‑03‑05 respectively, was approved by the Cabinet.
