Press briefing of Cabinet Decision taken on 2020-07-22

Manufacturing and marketing of innovative products developed by the Industrial Technology Institute (ITI) designed as an effort to prevent the COVID-19 Pandemic

- At the Cabinet meeting held on 2020‑04‑20, it was decided to explore the possibility of the Sri Lanka Ayurvedic Drugs Corporation to manufacture the innovative products developed by Industrial Technology Institute (ITI) and the ability to distribute such products through the sales outlets of the Co‑operative Wholesale Establishment and other appropriate Government Agencies as an effort to prevent the COVID-19 Pandemic. As such, the Cabinet noted the information submitted by the Minister of Higher Education, Technology and Innovation that, the Institute of Industrial Technology has entered into an Agreement with the Sri Lanka Ayurvedic Corporation and agreed to provide the required raw materials for the manufacture of Alchohol based Herbal Gel Hand Sanitizer and Alcohol based Liquid Hand Sanitizer and its manufacturing methodology to the Sri Lanka Ayurvedic Corporation and the Co‑operative Wholesale Establishment has agreed to distribute the products through its sales outlets.
