Paddy Purchasing Programme for Yala 2020

- A programme has been planned for the purchase of paddy through the Paddy Marketing Board with the participation of the District Secretaries / Government Agents, Divisional Secretaries and other Government officials at regional and rural level since the harvesting for the Yala season 2020 is scheduled to commence from the second week of July. Accordingly, the Cabinet approved the proposal submitted by the Minister of Mahaweli, Agriculture, Irrigation and Rural Development to implement the proposed programme to purchase paddy under a certified price of Rs.50/- per kg for quality paddy of Samba, Naadu and Kiri Samba categories while a certified price of Rs.42/- per kg for wet paddy, subject to a maximum of 5,000kg of paddy from a farmer according to the extent of land been cultivated by him.
