Implementation of Solar Power Projects under the Indian Lines of Credit

- The Government of India has extended its consensus to grant USD 100 million under Indian Lines of Credit through the EXIM Bank of India in order to accomplish the targets of integrating renewable energy to the energy sector in the Country through implementing solar power projects, in line with 'Vistas of Prosperity and Splendour' policy framework. Accordingly, Cabinet approval was granted to implement the relevant projects by giving the priority for provision of electricity to the government buildings by installation of solar power generation systems on roofs of those buildings and to selected low income families in the Mannar, Trincomalee, Moneragala, Anuradhapura and Hambantota districts and meet their power requirements by provision of solar power generation systems to their housing units.
