Entering into a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) between the Jaffna University and the Birmingham University of the United Kingdom
- The necessity of implementing a Development Strategic Programme towards a knowledge based economy through Human Resource Development, has been recognized in terms of the Government Policy Framework for the prosperity of the country. In line with the said Strategic Plan, it has been proposed to enter into a Memorandum of Understanding between the Jaffna University and the Birmingham University of the United Kingdom on 'Atrial Fibrillation Management' by the Global Health Research Group implemented by the National Institute for Health Research of the United Kingdom. The proposed MoU will help to improve the research capacity of the undergraduates and the postgraduates of the University of Jaffna. It has been proposed to allocate a sum of British Pounds 209,000 by the Birmingham University in respect of full financial assistance and advisory assistance for this project, as a research grant. Accordingly, the proposal made by the Minister of Higher Education, Technology and Innovation, to enter into the proposed MoU, was approved by the Cabinet.
