Design and Construction of 1000 Housing Units at the Stadiumgama

- The 'Colombo Urban Regeneration Programme' has been initiated in accordance with a decision taken by the Cabinet in the year 2010, with a view to facilitating the housing requirements of the under served community in the city of Colombo. A part of the funds needed for the project is financed by a loan obtained from the Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank and the housing project of the Stadiumgama has been planned to be implemented under same. Accordingly, 1000 houses with a floor capacity of 550 sqft. per house is due to be constructed. As such, the proposal made by the Hon. Prime Minister in his capacity as the Minister of Urban Development, Water Supply and Housing Facilities, to award the contract to Ms/ Access Engineering PLC for a sum of Rs.5,950.95 million to design and build the said 1000 houses as recommended by the Procurement Appeal Board, was approved by the Cabinet.
