Award of the contract for Embankment Conservation and De-silting of two Ponds in the Jaffna Peninsula as a Pilot Project

- Under the Strategic Cities Development Project, the International Development Association has granted an additional loan of US$ 55 million for improving the selected urban services and the common urban places in the Jaffna Peninsula. A part of this loan is expected to be used for the payments pertaining to the pilot project of the embankment conservation and de-silting of the 02 ponds of the Jaffna Pilliar Kovil Kulam and Thevar Kulam respectively. Accordingly, the proposal made by the Minister of Urban Development, Water Supply and Housing Facilities, to award this contract to the Sri Lanka Land Development Corporation for a sum of Rs.113.04 million (without VAT), was approved by the Cabinet.
