Elimination of Salary Anomalies in Principals' and the Teachers' Service
- Considering the issues prevailing for many years, pertaining to the salaries and service conditions of teachers, principals and other professionals related to the field of education, the National Policy Framework of the Government ''A Reconstructed Country with a Future-Vistas of Prosperity and Splendor'' has pointed out the necessity of formulating a suitable salary structure after preparing a Salary and Service Minute having integrated the Sri Lanka Teacher's Service and all other related services in the field of education. Even though, the Government has already taken a policy decision to take action accordingly, the Minister of Education has made a detailed clarification to the Cabinet, regarding the situation emerged due to the salary anomalies of the principals and the teachers' services.
H.E the President recently has appointed a National Pay Commission to study the salaries in the public sector and formulate a new salary structure enabling to remove the salary anomalies and the Government anticipates to implement recommendations of the said Commission through the budget to be submitted in Parliament. Accordingly, the Cabinet decided that action be taken to remove the salary anomalies presently existing in the Principals and the Teachers' Services as well, on the recommendations of the said Commission.
