Press briefing of Cabinet Decision taken on 2020-02-27

Measures adopted by the Sri Lanka Missions to ensure safety and welfare of Sri Lankans in Europe, Middle East East Asia regions in the context of the new Corona Virus COVID - 19 outbreak

- The new Corona epidemic has currently spread in 44 countries claiming more than 2,700 lives and infecting over 80,000 people. The Acting Minister of Foreign Relations has made aware the Cabinet that it has not been reported that any Sri Lankan living in those countries has been infected by the virus and on action taken by the Sri Lanka Missions of the said countries pertaining to their safety and well being. At the same time, the Cabinet noted the further information furnished by the Minister to the effect that the Ministry of Foreign Affairs continues the monitoring process of the evolving situation with a view to taking necessary steps on any situation that could arise in future.
