Re-opening of the Kurunchativu (Elephant Pass North) Saltern under the Public-Private Partnership Methodology

- Although the Cabinet has granted approval previously, to take necessary action to re-commence the production and operational activities of the Kurunchativu (Elephant Pass North) Saltern in the Kilinochchi District which had been closed down due to the conflict situation that prevailed in the past, the said process has not been successful up to date. As such, the proposal made by the Minister of Industries and Supply Chain Management to carry out the operational activities of the said saltern with the Mantai Salt Limited and an investor selected adopting the formal procedure, as a Public‑Private Partnership Project and commence the implementation of same, was approved by the Cabinet.
