Establishment of Business Service Centres (One Stop Shops) for Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises

- The Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises which are considered to make a contribution estimated at 52% of the Gross Domestic Product of the country, provide a livelihood to over 3 million people in the country and it is about 45% of the country's total employment. It has been observed that the entrepreneurs have felt uncomfortable due to the provision of the same service through different institutions and consumption of a long time according to the prevailing institutional procedure for providing services. As such, the proposal made by the Minister of Small & Medium Business and Enterprise Development, to establish 25 service centres which provide services from one place based on all 25 districts, to implement these service centres by District Secretariats in collaboration with the other relevant Government Institutions and other stakeholders and to carry out the management of such service centres by a Governing Body, was approved by the Cabinet.
