Report on Non-enrollment of students as expected for the Interest Free Student Loan Scheme and abandoning of the Study Courses by students

- The interest free loan scheme has been initiated from the year 2017 for students to pursue a Government recognized Degree Programme at a Non-State Higher Education Institute. As at present, the said loan facilities have been provided to 3,731 students under 03 stages and 202 students out of them, have dropped out from the courses due to various reasons. As such, the proposal made by the Minister of Higher Education, Technology and Innovation in respect of taking steps to extend the programme further to provide relief to students who are beset with financial difficulties and also to give priority in future to the courses which generate higher employment opportunities under the said programme, was approved by the Cabinet.
