Signing of Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Government of India for upgrading the Jaffna International Airport at Palali

- Measures have been taken at present, to develop the Jaffna International Airport at Palali and operation of regional international flights from that Airport also has been commenced. The Government of India, extending its willingness for same, has concurred to offer a grant of Sri Lankan Rs.300 million. It is expected to utilize the grant so provided to upgrade the facilities in the fields of terminal modification, supply of power, utility services and navigational services of the Jaffna International Airport. As such, the proposal made by the Minister of Tourism and Aviation, to enter into a Memorandum of Understanding between the Government of Sri Lanka and the Government of India for upgrading the Jaffna International Airport, was approved by the Cabinet.
