Disposal of the confiscated sand and timber

The approval of the Cabinet has been granted in 2016 to provide the sand and timber confiscated by courts throughout the country to ensure construction and renovation of places of religious worship and the Government Institutions at concessionary rates and the period allowed for such concessionary rates have been extended from time to time and finally up to 31st December 2019. Accordingly, the proposal made by the Minister of Justice, Human Rights & Law Reforms, to extend the procedure for a further period of one (01) year to enable only the places of religious worship to obtain such sand and timber, was approved by the Cabinet.
