Press briefing of Cabinet Decision taken on 2020-02-05
Time Charter of Maintenance and Emergency Response Vessel (MERV) for the Ceylon Petroleum Corporation (CPC)
- 70% of the fuel requirement of Sri Lanka is supplied by the imported refined petroleum products and for this purpose there are three fuel unloading locations located outside of the Colombo Port and inside the Colombo Port. Among them, the operation and maintenance of the single point buoy mooring systems located 9.2 km away from the Colombo Port is done by using a Specially Created Maintenance & Emergency Response Vessel (MERV). Accordingly, the proposal made by the Minister of Power & Energy, to obtain such a vessel on a hiring basis to perform the relevant services, was approved by the Cabinet.
