The Programme for the development of a 100,000 km alternative road system

- Approval has been granted by the Cabinet at its meeting held on 2019‑12‑18 to develop a 100,000 km alternative road system to facilitate a higher level of access to main roads and express ways. Accordingly, the roads to be developed will be identified taking into consideration that no renovation work had been carried out at all during the past 10 years and making use of the criteria based on matters pertaining to the number of families utilizing the ability to access, educational, medical and marketing facilities by making use of the roads. Accordingly, the proposal made by the Minister of Roads and Highways, to implement the proposed programme with the participation of the Provincial Councils and to implement certain components identified in the ongoing projects for the development of roads under foreign funds also under the proposed programme, was approved by the Cabinet.
