Archaeological Heritage Management of the Rajagala Archaeological Premises
- It has been identified that there are 593 sites of archaeological importance spread over in extent of about 1,025 acres belonging to the 'Ariyakara Viharaya' premises situated in Rajagala Tenna coming within the Uhana Divisional Secretariat Division. Several highly important sites out of these have already been excavated, conserved and endowed to the nation by now and as a result of which the attraction of tourists to these places have been increased.

Accordingly, the proposal made by the Hon. Prime Minister in his capacity as the Minister of Buddhasasana, Cultural and Religious Affairs, to implement the Rajagala Restoration Project jointly by the Department of Archaeology and the University of Sri Jayawardenepura until the end of the year 2022, in order to conserve the monuments considered as sensitive archaeologically and as well as historically, was approved by the Cabinet.
